About Anne Sexton:
Born in Newton, Massachussetts in 1928, she initially lived the classic cliché of the middle-class housewife until she began writing poetry at the age of 28 following a psychotic episode on the advice of her therapist. Over the next 15 years, she became one of the most prominent representatives of the "confessional poets". She received important literary honours, including the Pulitzer Prize. She took her own life on 4 October 1974.
