'Vielleicht gestern...' was composed - just like the piece 'Hi Bill' - for the bass clarinettist
Volker Hemken, who premiered it at the 20th Dresden Days of Contemporary Music in October 2006.
"A changing stream of thought for bass clarinet - "free" and "restless", "tender" and "brutal", "evil", "singing". This short solo piece, like an exclamation mark, gives the interpreter space to fight free, to shake off conventions, in short, to play. The composer - a professor of media composition (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna) and visiting professor of experimental composition (UdK Berlin) - encourages a quasi-improvisation, a wild ride through emotional states and playing techniques. Caution, danger of explosion!"
